Microwave Subsurface Imaging Method by Incorporating Radar and Tomographic Approaches

Due to its high resolution and deep penetration depth, microwave ultrawideband radar is a promising tool for the non-destructive testing (NDT) of transportation infrastructure. Microwave radiation can also be used reconstruct dielectric properties objects therefore detect an air cavity or metallic rust in concrete. We contrast source inversion (CSI) as one most inverse scattering schemes. To resolve observation domain limitations NDT, imaging method, known range points migration (RPM) was first incorporated into algorithm based on CSI region interest (ROI) estimator, which substantially improves accuracy complex permittivity reconstruction. In addition, ROI optimizing scheme cost function enhance accuracy. The effectiveness proposed methods validated via finite-difference time-domain (FDTD)-based numerical simulation, assumes typical NDT model.
